Graduation Rate

Loading...
68%
ABOVE AVERAGE

West Chester University of Pennsylvania graduation rate is above the national average.

68% of full-time students enrolled for the first time to West Chester University of Pennsylvania completed the education program and got a degree in 150 percent of the expected time of completion.

The graduation rate value includes only programs that were completed less than six years for four-year degrees or less than three years for two-year degrees.

Graduation rate is the percentage of institution’s new-entering, first-time, first-year undergraduate students who complete their program within 150% of the published time for the program. Graduation rate excludes an extensive number of students. This index doesn’t take into consideration students of nontraditional enrollments - part-time students, students who enroll mid-year, and who transfer from one institution to another. So graduation rate alone can create a misleading perception. Completion rate in the form of total number of students receiving any types of awards/degrees creates a complete picture. Combining this data with graduation rate is a better way to compare institutions.

Overall Rating:

i love my school, but i wouldn’t recommend it, nor send my kids here. there are way too many police officers here who seem more concerned with discriminating against college students and preventing them from having a fun college experience than actually protecting them. this is part of the reason why wcu has a complicated party scene; places are hard to get into without the right connections, partially because there is a fear of having too many people and attracting police attention.

Overall Rating:

I have seen little to no reviews by parents here and I am going to fix that. We sent our daughter to WC because it was local (40 min) had a good reputation and was reasonably priced, and let me be clear, her degree did help her land a good position for a new grad. However, I was very disappointed that some of her professors would start political discussions with the class and present their biased liberal views as fact. They discouraged any opposing view points that did not fit their paradigm . My daughter trusted them and expected her professors to present her with facts, not opinions disguised as such. If any of the students would question their views, they were quickly and rudely "contained".As a result, she was reluctant to voice her opinion. I was not aware of this at first since we didn't talk that much about politics. One time when we did have a serious political discussion I was shocked at her view points, very different than what I expected. When I asked her why she felt the way she did, she told me her professors told her these "facts". These professors never offered their students an alternative view to the issues so they could weigh the evidence and make their own choices. In issue after issue she was never given information on both sides of the story so she could make an educated, unbiased, adult, informed decision. Thankfully she now considers both sides of an issue and was as disappointed as I was at this behavior. This type of rhetoric is rampant in our universities today and is robbing our children of the opportunity to become well balanced adults. In my opinion(please note I clearly stated opinion unlike these professors), this sounded like as much of an indoctrination as an education. This was directed at one of our children's most basic rights as an American, the right to free speech. If you are conservative, moderate or even liberal in your views and you want your children to be educated in an unbiased manner, you may want to take this into consideration.
