Graduation rate is the percentage of institution’s new-entering, first-time, first-year undergraduate students who complete their program within 150% of the published time for the program. Graduation rate excludes an extensive number of students. This index doesn’t take into account students of nontraditional enrollments - part-time students, students who enroll mid-year, and who transfer from one institution to another. So graduation rate alone can create a misleading perception. Completion rate in the form of total number of students receiving any types of awards/degrees creates a complete picture. They did well the first time and I came in do my roots. The second time they had to bleach my ash blonde hair three times. They bleached part of my hair that I didn't want bleached and it is now orange. They toned my roots a different color than the rest of my hair. I understand they're students. That is why I feel the instructor is to blame.

I went in for a cut and color (a balayage, to be exact) and my stylist did SUCH an amazing job. She took her time with me, ensured that my cut was exactly what I wanted by providing examples, and asked very insightful questions. I was so, so pleased with the final look and love that she called over an instructor at the end to make sure everything was done correctly - which it was! Overall an amazing experience, especially for the price. I felt very well taken care of and will come back again and again.

Beware! I know I’m rolling the dice getting services at a school but have good experiences in the past (elsewhere). I asked for subtle highlights that would blend with my dark (nearly black) hair. I even went so far to say I want so unnoticeable that they’re only obvious in the sun. The student barely interacted with me & the instructor did most of the discussion. The student was well,a student. Globs of product were sloshed on me, the floor, the cape, etc. after she finished the foil I noticed bright blonde peeking out. I asked the instructor ,repeating my desire for barely noticeable highlights. She had the student wash my hair immediately. I had HUGE blonde chunks of hair. We picked a highlight color and the instructor & student put bowls full of the mix in my hair. The student cut my hair, one side being easily 2 inches longer. The instructor had her take a lunch (after working on my hair for5 hrs) and corrected the cut. She then dabbed more color on my head & told me to rinse it out later at home. At check out I was charged an additional $20 because they used extra product. Now I have hair that looks much like store bought do it yourself stuff. Ridiculous!

Overall Rating:

I am a graduate of Sherman Kendall Academy. It was a fun experience but also the education and amount of preparation to become a successful cosmetologist is phenomenal. The education goes beyond the basics and lots of product learning, and real client experience. They gave me the tools and support that I today am a successful salon owner.

I went in for a cut and color and had a truly amazing experience. The woman cutting my hair was about to graduate and even ended up making suggestions to the instructor about what color my hair would lighten to. My hair is black, box dye for YEARS and they were able to lighten my hair to a beautiful coppery brown with no orange tint. The student was very knowledgeable and the staff was very helpful offering me water and discussing my future wants for my hair. While I was there (a few hours) I saw several beautiful hair colors come through from a lovely rainbow undercut to green and red mohawks. Everyone was very polite and I will happily go here again and again.
