Student Reviews and Ratings for Sanford-Brown College-Mendota Heights
This school is a scam push through school. They let you (and everybody you know) easily gain admittance, overcharge you (books, classes, materials), help spoon feed and shove student loans down your and your parent's throats. And in the end make big promises about career turnover rates. Please for your sake and your family's sake, don't go here unless you are just looking to get deep in debt and have it cripple your financial future.I would not recommend anyone go here. I really hope that the school closes, so that students that got ripped off could at least get some kind of partial refund.Source of the review: Google Places, Google Maps™
I went to this school 2000-2002 for a degree in Visual Communications. It was called Brown Institute until I was a year into my program. I should have quit right away. I only know three people who actually use their Visual Communications degree. I know that people in the Culinary Program have better luck. That being said, it was a waste of time and money for me. I got two phone calls after school about a possible interview. It didn't work out. That's not the school's fault. But here are a few things students should avoid: 1. They overcharge on all their materials and books. 2. You can easily find the textbooks online 3. The Successful people you study never finished school. They left school to start a business (a big clue about how much the degree matters) 4. The Staff know their stuff, but that doesn't mean that you'll be in a good place to get into Graphic Design. 5. None of their credits transfer.Source of the review: Google Places, Google Maps™
KEEP LOOKING! *(Addendum to original review)* It appears that several staff members have made it a point to post five star reviews on here. This represents a conflict of interest and I think they should not be counted toward a positive score for this school. If they have indeed made changes for the better I applaud them, but allow applicants to read reviews from their peers who do not stand to gain monetarily from promising more than this school is likely to deliver. *****Run! It was clear from the beginning that all these wolves were interested in was my money. I went to Brown College to talk with admissions reps strictly for information. They immediately promised me all my wildest dreams would come true if only I'd sign up. I wasn't planning on going back to school for another six months, but they were relentless to get me to sign up NOW. Every single member of the "admissions rep" staff behaved like predatory salesmen. They moved me from room to room, evaded very straight forward questions. Forms were thrust in front of me to sign before any of my questions had been answered. The amount of money these con artists get out of people for an UNACCREDITED college is just criminal. ($30,000, and a laptop, whether you want it or not). Even after I made a hasty escape, they continued with phone calls that bordered on harassment. AVOID AT ALL COST. There are plenty of better choices in the metro area for your education.Source of the review: Google Places, Google Maps™
I have recently returned to Sanford Brown and am very impressed with the student-centered educational environment. The graphic design students can enjoy professional speakers, Design Club talks, service learning projects for clients, and collaborative design experiences including preparation for a new student gallery space. The students here are awesome!Source of the review: Google Places, Google Maps™
Sanford Brown is great. The instructors have real life experience in the field and that comes through in their teaching. I am in the radio program and I have my own show through the school, have been doing play-by-play for the St. Paul Saints and am starting my internship soon. This is the starting blocks of a great future!Source of the review: Google Places, Google Maps™
