Graduation Rate

Portland State University graduation rate is below the national average.

42% of full-time students enrolled for the first time to Portland State University completed the education program and got a degree in 150 percent of the expected time of completion.

The graduation rate value includes only programs that were completed less than six years for four-year degrees or less than three years for two-year degrees.

Graduation rate is the percentage of institution’s new-entering, first-time, first-year undergraduate students who complete their program within 150% of the published time for the program. Graduation rate excludes a huge number of students. This indicator doesn’t take into consideration students of nontraditional enrollments - part-time students, students who enroll mid-year, and who transfer from one institution to another. So graduation rate alone can create a misleading perception. Completion rate in the form of total number of students receiving any types of awards/degrees creates a complete picture. Combining this data with graduation rate is a better way to compare schools.

Student Reviews and Ratings for Portland State University

Overall Rating:

It was interesting to open a market for fresh fruits and vegetables in college. It looked small on the outside, but there are far more than 100 schools. There were not many students on vacation. I bought Viking-shaped pitches as a souvenir.

Overall Rating:

The PSU administrative office employs staff whom have prior history of accessing sensitive information from their employer, then supplying information gathered from their posts to neo-anarchist groups and anti-fascist groups in the region. It's likely the information is further shared with broader audiences, namely mirrored organizations in other cities and possibly other countries. Some administrative staff corroborate information gathered from past spying operations with new information gleaned from their current posts. In some cases, vigilantes employed by PSU supplied sensitive student and staff data to parties that enemize subjects of interest in verbal or written summary reports. This has historically lead to criminal suspects being identified or formulated by self-interested groups that are not aligned with PSU's mission or code of conduct. The suspects, who are not always known to local law enforcement and security, become targets of surveillance due to the alarming nature of reports, regardless of how factually accurate they are, as well as vigilante harassment. It also enables an environment where vigilantism appears to be supported or at least condoned. Because of this, vigilantes become emboldened in the PSU campus environments, going so far as to institute their own forms of vigilante justice by monitoring threats and enforcing their understanding of the law, often with weapons or intimidation. There are some reported cases where vigilantism has lead to death of parties involved, whether they were active and willing participants or not. Vigilante groups do not always cooperate with law enforcement or security agencies, and because of the illegal nature of their activity become threats to said enforcement bodies, sometimes to the point of justified lethal use of force.PSU should expand its background checks to include analysis of involvement with vigilante groups, especially those with ties to extremist groups, and ensure the integrity of the institution is not compromised. They should also ensure that student and staff records can not be compromised by domestic spies with loose ties to international terrorist activity.

Not safe. If you care about the safety of your kids don't send them here. Thugs run this place. Security is afraid to act to protect students. There are plenty of good safe schools where a good education can be had. Avoid this place.

Overall Rating:

As someone who graduated in 2016, I can tell that the tuition increased immensely from my first year in 2011. Fees increased quarter after quarter, year after year. And lots of odd fee categories were added, ex building fee.PSU, generally speaking, is not the best university around, but also not the most expensive one either. Get a good degree and quickly get out.

On campus - beautiful - to watch PSU Men's soccer beat our team. Granted, they were incredible and the Goalie was awesome. Nevertheless nice facility. No rain No fog.
