Graduation Rate

Normandale Community College graduation rate is below the national average.

17% of full-time students enrolled for the first time to Normandale Community College completed the education program and got a degree in 150 percent of the expected time of completion.

The graduation rate value includes only programs that were completed less than six years for four-year degrees or less than three years for two-year degrees.

Graduation rate is the percentage of institution’s new-entering, first-time, first-year undergraduate students who complete their program within 150% of the published time for the program. Graduation rate excludes a huge number of students. This index doesn’t take into account students of nontraditional enrollments - part-time students, students who enroll mid-year, and who transfer from one institution to another. So graduation rate alone can create a misleading perception. Completion rate in the form of total number of students receiving any types of awards/degrees creates a complete picture. Combining this data with graduation rate is a better way to compare institutions.

Normandale treats itself like a private school but never wants you to leave. Do not transfer to Normandale and transfer out as soon as you can.

Worst math department EVER and which does not actually teach! My syllabus literally says "Read the chapter of the textbook, do the homework problems in the textbook website which will be graded instantly. Complete the textbook-created quizzes/exams online. If you have any questions, you may submit them to the class discussion page, which the professor will NOT respond to. If you are still confused, here are SEVEN websites you can search to find understanding. If you are still confused, you can go to the math tutors. If you are still confused, then you can email the professor." So to recap, a math instructor does NONE of the following:Create math lectures. Create homework. Grade homework. Create exams. Grade exams. Demonstrate how to solve problems. Answer student's discussion questions.Save your money by buying the textbbok with website access. There are literally 7 websites to aide your self-teaching. Then just TEST OUT of this horrible department! If you need (or want) someone to teach you, then go to another school. This school is getting more than one star because it appears not all departments are run this way. I should be entitled to a refund, this is so bad.

UPDATE 10/18/2018I’m now in a Master’s program full time at another university. I am still so grateful for the excellent education I received at Normandale. It prepared me to be competitive, and successful, at higher levels.*** Original review: ***I love my school.I've been a part-time adult student, (very) slowly earning my degree, and over the years I have had some amazing classes. Some of the teachers I've had have been literally life changing: Math for Elementary Teachers was good, so was History of Rock & Roll and Fitness for Life. But I have truly found my academic home in the World Languages Department. I'm working on a degree with an emphasis in Spanish, so I've had four Spanish teachers so far, and each has been outstanding in his or her own way.The campus is compact, with most buildings connected by tunnels or hallways. The Japanese Garden is lovely, and if you're on campus for a while you can usually find a good place to get a bite to eat or a quiet place to study. It's also really inexpensive, and the Associate of Arts degree will knock out the first two years of schooling at most Minnesota universities.I'll be graduating in a few short months and moving on, finally. But I think Normandale will always have a very special place in my heart. I'm proud of what I've accomplished but I'll be very sad to leave this fabulous school.

I had my first day of school here today and all I can say is that it was great, aside from one minor thing. In my class, my teacher asked me what the Carbonaro Effect was and since I didn't have an answer, I had to leave the room because of how embarrassing it was. Apparently the Carbonaro Effect is the name of a hidden camera magic TV show, like the one you are on right now.

I got 2 associates degrees from Normandale a few years back. I'll admit, there is not much guidance. If you are self sufficient like myself, you can get the most out of it. It's cheap and it's a laid back environment. I enjoyed my time there and liked my teachers. I like that you don't need to go outside to get to different buildings. I loved the student center. The food is good. overall, it was a good place to find myself.
