Graduation Rate

Missouri State University-West Plains graduation rate is below the national average.

24% of full-time students enrolled for the first time to Missouri State University-West Plains completed the education program and got a degree in 150 percent of the expected time of completion.

The graduation rate value includes only programs that were completed less than six years for four-year degrees or less than three years for two-year degrees.

Graduation rate is the percentage of institution’s new-entering, first-time, first-year undergraduate students who complete their program within 150% of the published time for the program. Graduation rate excludes a huge number of students. This index doesn’t take into account students of nontraditional enrollments - part-time students, students who enroll mid-year, and who transfer from one institution to another. So graduation rate alone can create a misleading perception. Completion rate in the form of total number of students receiving any types of awards/degrees creates a complete picture. Combining this data with graduation rate is a better way to compare institutions.

I have attended this school since August 2018, so 2 total semesters. This is an awful school, it has a negative affect on everyone I know. Within months of being here you will realize you made the mistake of choosing this college. If you live in the Grizzly Lofts you will be absolutely screwed, the food in the Sole Cafe is disgusting, most nights I go hungry instead of eating the food from there, the employees of the Sole Cafe that serve you food every day are almost always on some kind of drug, at least two of them live right across the street from the dorms and sell meth out of their home, they park in the dorm parking lot so their customers can pull in their driveway. If you come here you'll find out very soon that there is no fun aloud and if Jared Cates catches wind of it he will kick you out, most people here are from towns over an hour away (in my own case 3) but that does not stop him, he doesn't care if you have not money and no place to stay that night, he doesn't mind if you have to sleep in your car even if it is 10 degrees or below, it doesn't need bother him, he will kick you out because, in the famous words of Jared Cates himself, "if it is more likely than not that you committed the offense." Many people have been kicked out because he only had to be "51% sure you did it." There is no innocent until prover guilty, he doesn't have to be beyond a reasonable doubt that you did something, if Jared doesn't like you and wants you out he'll do it and the Dean won't stop him. He's tried kicking people out for having a dirty room. Jared claims to be a God fearing man but shows no forgiveness, compassion, or reason when making his decisions. More likely than not you will come here in good spirits and excited for you college experience but this college makes people so miserable if you're anything like me after 9 months most of your friends will have either dropped out or been kicked out, just like everyone's else's your mental health will take a large toll, 3+ of your friends will try to kill themselves while being here, and by the time the semesters up you'll wonder why your grades are as low as they are. Also something the most of the time fail to mention is the Grizzly Lofts are in a flood plain, if it rains enough the dorms will flood resulting in loss of everything, people have even had their cars completely underwater in the parking lot, students have had to break windows and climb to the roof to escape the flood waters. If you're thinking about going here please reconsider, the are plenty of better colleges elsewhere. I regret choosing Missouri State West Plains more than any decision I've ever made in my life.

This particular review has more to do with the on Campus Book Store than the actual school itself. So here is my review of that. Stay Away from the Drago College Book Store! Reasons why: 1. If you want to purchase a textbook for a class, The Drago College Book Store website will show the book is in stock, but when you go up there to buy it.... guess what.... chances are that they have run out of the book you wanted. Which means, they don't synchronize their online databases with the real in-stock items as often as they should. 2. When you go up there with the intentions of purchasing a textbook, there are no indications in the store that you must first start at the back counter for them to find and hand you the correct textbook to then bring up to the front registers. If you mix up this order, the elderly women that work there will give you hard time for going out of order. -___________- 3. If you ask how much a certain item costs, the same elderly women mentioned earlier, will give you an attitude for asking and will not bother to look it up to verify. 4. Their return policy is trash, buyer beware! If you buy a used textbook, you only have up to 4 full days to return for a full refund. And even then, they will only allow a refund transaction to take place only if you dropped the class from your schedule. That being said, this bit of information is not stated in the Blue Slip (handout) labeled "Textbook Refund Policy" given to you after every transaction. 5. The elderly ladies that are employed there need better customer service skills.Ways this establishment can improve: 1. Update online databases/maintain the Drago College Book store more frequently 2. The elderly ladies that are employed need to resign/retire from their current positions. 3. A better workflow of how customers go about buying textbooks in person. 4. Being able to quote customers how much an item costs if they are curious. (Seriously! That's like retail store management/entrepreneurship 101) It doesn't have to be a print out every time but at least turn the register monitor around to show the people a price! 5. Return Policy needs to be addressed/rewritten/reworked to include something about the scenario I mentioned earlier in this Google Review.Pro-Tip: If you must insist in purchasing a textbook from here, my recommendation would be to call ahead and ask if the textbook(s) is/are in-stock before making the trip. Final Thoughts: If I could 0 star this thing, I would. I hope this helps someone out there. I challenge those from the MSU-WP staff/faculty Management Team(s) that over looks the Drago Book Store brick & mortar location and Store Website to read this and then then take appropriate action to help improve customer/student experiences. Bottom line, if your quarterly profits for this business show a decline in business over the recent years, perhaps you can start here. But then again, these are just my thoughts. Thanks

This school doesn't even deserve a star. I wasted my time coming here for a semester for them to never apply my financial aid or A+. I was constantly in and out of the business department even months after the semester ended fighting with them to have my education covered and to come back, but no one cared enough to help me. They Always sent me to a student for help and they couldn't even help me. They continued to send me the same paper work I had already turned in. They screwed my fiancé over the same way, repetitively sending him the same paper work he had sent in until he finally dropped out. He didn't have time to fight with them between his work schedule. The only time they wanted him to come in was when he was working and no other time would do. This school has screwed over so many people that I know. They have billed my friends for things they advertise as free and no one seems to know how to do their job, seeing as students run the whole operation. They have great teachers here, but unless you're paying out of pocket for your entire education here, I'd advise you to go some where else. I made 100 mile round trips four times or more a week to this place and have nothing to show for it but an empty wallet and a tore-up car. I didn't have the money to begin with to even DRIVE to college let alone the bill they sent me at the end of the samester for over $2000 or the $800 I had to spend on books from this place. This is a sad excuse for a school. It's a rip off and I wish I never would have even started school here and just went straight into the military. It's sad when an 18/19 year old girl thinks it's easier to go into the military than to go to college.
