Graduation Rate

Indiana University-Northwest graduation rate is below the national average.

27% of full-time students enrolled for the first time to Indiana University-Northwest completed the education program and got a degree in 150 percent of the expected time of completion.

The graduation rate value includes only programs that were completed less than six years for four-year degrees or less than three years for two-year degrees.

Graduation rate is the percentage of institution’s new-entering, first-time, first-year undergraduate students who complete their program within 150% of the published time for the program. Graduation rate excludes a huge number of students. This indicator doesn’t consider students of nontraditional enrollments - part-time students, students who enroll mid-year, and who transfer from one institution to another. So graduation rate alone can create a misleading picture. Completion rate in the form of total number of students receiving any types of awards/degrees creates a complete picture. Combining this data with graduation rate is a better way to compare institutions.

Student Reviews and Ratings for Indiana University-Northwest

Overall Rating:

I would give 5 stars, I love this campus. However, as a commuting campus there should be a number where I can get ahold of someone who is of the human flesh. I should not have to drive up to IUN at a reasonable hour like 3 or 4 PM to findout if the library is open or closed. This is a huge problem, it needs to be fixed immediately . Again, as a commuter campus this should be fixed. Some of my fellow students drive up to an hour to campus, luckily I only have to drive 15 minutes. Still, why should I have to drive at all just to findout that the library is closed. There have been times where on Christian holidays the library is closed, however on Muslim or Jewish holidays the library is open. There needs to be someone at the campus that can pick up a phone and let us know if it is open or not. I know students who only have internet connection through your campuses computers , so even though it is 2019 they cannot findout online. This needs to be fixed asap. When it is I will rate this campus 5 stars.

Very nice buildings, small and easy to navigate. Was only here for the summer but enjoyed my time here. Don’t get worried that it’s in Gary, there are tons of IUPD officers and cars everywhere and it’s very safe. Feels very homely and reliable. It is basically a miniature version of IUB in every sense.

Overall Rating:

I love it here. The professors are caring and knowledgeable. I feel like every class gave me real world knowledge I can use in my personal and professional life. Plus, its close to home. The location is right off the highway and Police are very present at all hours of the day. The parking lot is a tad small, but very well lit. They do have a shuttle bus to address this issue. All in all.. I am glad I came here to study Business and I would pick IUN again if given the choice.

The stars above are only in reference to how IU as a whole does their student accounts collections. They lie to you. If you are ever late on a payment to them and you no longer need to take classes, a transcript or your diploma. DO NOT PAY THEM. They promised to remove it from my credit if I paid them in full, and they did not, and they claimed there is no record of anyone offering me such. I wasted 895 dollars for nothing. If its not going to be removed from my credit I have no reason to pay you. Don't fall for it. Don't pay them unless you need something from them.I could have used that money for a medical bill I have, they, the medical company, agreed they'd remove it from my account and they already did one, so at least the people I owe my medical bills too, are actually honest. I wasted my money to IU collections. Don't do it if you don't need them. Save your money, use it for something that will be deleted or for a current bill, or something else in life.

Overall Rating:

I started my education at Indiana University Bloomington. Due to the price of tuition and the desire to move to a Chicago, Northwest was the most viable option - I love IU and wouldn’t want to go to any other school for my undergrad. I like this campus, it is smaller so the instructors really get a chance to know you. The only downfall is the location because Gary is known to be a rough town. Luckily, if you’re driving from the highway, it’s the first building once you enter the city on the right. Don’t let the fact that it’s located in Gary scare you, just don’t take the scenic route or drive down Broadway (downtown Gary)...
