Graduation Rate

Garden City Community College graduation rate is below the national average.

35% of full-time students enrolled for the first time to Garden City Community College completed the education program and got a degree in 150 percent of the expected time of completion.

The graduation rate value includes only programs that were completed less than six years for four-year degrees or less than three years for two-year degrees.

Graduation rate is the percentage of institution’s new-entering, first-time, first-year undergraduate students who complete their program within 150% of the published time for the program. Graduation rate excludes a huge number of students. This index doesn’t take into consideration students of nontraditional enrollments - part-time students, students who enroll mid-year, and who transfer from one institution to another. So graduation rate alone can create a misleading perception. Completion rate in the form of total number of students receiving any types of awards/degrees creates a complete picture. Combining this data with graduation rate is a better way to compare institutions.

I will never send my children to this school as they allow their basketball players to disrespect the National Anthem. And a booster gets bent out of shape about it and they kicked the booster out?!? Shame on this college.

Do not send your child here as they DO NOT offer protection against violence on campus! My daughter was assaulted by four students today. The GCCC campus intervene whenever 911 is called, and has attempted to keep my daughter from filing assault charges as well as seek medical attention for her injuries. I've called from Texas to Garden City Police Department and have been told the GCCC campus isn't their jurisdiction. My daughter was finally allowed to seek medical attention for her injuries but was not allowed to be transported by ambulance from the campus to the hospital. Her nose is cracked and swollen. GCCC police have yet to file a report. I've emailed the college President as well as the track coach as all parties involved are members of the GCCC track team. The handling of this situation is not acceptable. Student safety is not taken seriously. This is a violent crime and GCCC is doing nothing to protect student's safety. Needless to say my daughter will not be returning next semester and I fully intend to perdue legal action. Very disappointed in GCCC.
