My son is a Senior at the school. He has received an excellent education. A lot of the complaints from the old reviews have been addressed. I suggest checking out the current issue of the student handbook (The Guide) if you have concerns.

I'm posting this review in as honest of a spirit as I can. I am a current student and I've been attending for the last three years. Let me begin by saying that yes, there are rules that the students are expected to follow. Some of them are irritating but none of them keep me up at night. Regarding the clearly disenfranchised reviews posted by others, the rules have changed drastically since their time here and I would encourage you to check out the current version of the student handbook, The Guide. There is a curfew, but it's midnight, which is really as late as you need to be out anyway. I don't know how long ago the people who wrote the other reviews went here, but dating is perfectly acceptable. The only rule in that regard is that freshmen are not supposed to date without a parental permission form (but really, who cares? Get mom and dad to sign and move on with your life). There are restaurants in the area that students are not allowed to visit, like the Tilted Kilt, but as a Christian, why do you need to go to a bar filled with scantily clad ladies when there are plenty of other places to get that sort of food? The Student Life department does not treat students like children, but it does try to provide a somewhat structured environment to help students adjust to adulthood without making stupid mistakes. As far as "conservative" Christian schools go, this one is much, much more progressively minded than schools like Bob Jones and Pensacola Christian. All that stuff aside, what really matters about a school is the education. Clearwater is a small institution and because of that, you lose some of the variety and options that bigger schools can provide. However, the classes that are offered here are excellent for the most part. There are some professors to avoid and some that are incredible teachers. That is the case at any school. The upside is that the professors know all their students, and many take a personal interest in the lives of their students. The student body is friendly and engaging, and for the size of the school, the athletics programs are outstanding. The new president, Dr. Klem, really seems to have the school headed in the right direction, both fiscally and philosophically. I've enjoyed my time here, and I can honestly say the atmosphere has improved every single year. I will miss this place.
