BELOW AVERAGE

Big Sandy Community and Technical College graduation rate is below the national average.

18% of full-time students enrolled for the first time to Big Sandy Community and Technical College completed the education program and got a degree in 150 percent of the expected time of completion.

The graduation rate value includes only programs that were completed less than six years for four-year degrees or less than three years for two-year degrees.

Graduation rate is the percentage of institution’s new-entering, first-time, first-year undergraduate students who complete their program within 150% of the published time for the program. Graduation rate excludes an extensive number of students. This indicator doesn’t consider students of nontraditional enrollments - part-time students, students who enroll mid-year, and who transfer from one institution to another. So graduation rate alone can create a misleading picture. Completion rate in the form of total number of students receiving any types of awards/degrees creates a complete picture. Combining this data with graduation rate is a better way to compare schools.

I went to swvcc and really hated it. I thought every college was the same. However, years later I enrolled in bsctc and fell in love with the campus, staff and with the overall experience. Hate I have to leave to achieve a bachelor's degree.

Unhelpful staff, a mistake was made with my transcripts on their end and they have been completely unwilling to fix it. Several times I have went to them and every time they have been rude and willfully unhelpful.

Overall Rating:

I love Big Sandy Community and Technical College. The faculty there are awesome and are all very helpful. All the professors are very nice, friendly and are willing to help their students. The class sizes are very small so you can get to know your professor very well. It does really feel like home. The classes are challenging, but not as much as UK and EKU's. They are all manageable if you put some effort in. Big Sandy brings me back so many memories. In the mid 2000's I used to go there to take my ACT test. I was accepted into the 2 year Honor's Program in 2010. The scholarship paid for 15 credit classes. In addition, our community used to play soccer at the back of the Post Secondary and Campbell building. That was back in the 1990s when I was young so I am not sure if those buildings were built then.
